Rank 40 Tourism

Yes, that’s how I see PvE content: as a tourist attraction.  It’s a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there.  Still, it’s nice to get away one a vacation from RvR once in a while.

Last night, I visited the Sigmarite Crypts and one of the Warpblade Tunnels.  The Crypts was a relatively easy instance, except for the final fight with the twin chaos cultists.  Everyone in the group had a handle on their character class, and we basically rolled everything.  We had some quirky behavior in the twins encounter, and the group wiped because of it.  However, we were able to dust ourselves off and complete the instance in short order.  I like the Crypts.  It’s a very atmospheric instance, and it reminds me of the Stonehenge Barrows from Dark Age of Camelot.

The Warpblade Tunnels was more challenging, but we manage d to take out the trash mobs once we found a good rhythm.  We could not take down Skrot, who looks like a caster but only seems to melee,  and Brauk, his rat ogre bodyguard.  Both of our tanks had Lesser Ward, but they both took damage at such an incredible rate that the healers just could not keep up.  The tanks would drop after three or four hits, and we would pretty much wipe.  We tried a good seven or eight times, but no luck.

Now that I’ve shared the fun part, I’ll share my mild irritation at the drops.  We had one drop that was usable by one of the classes present.  Every other drop was unusable.  It’s truly ludicrous to have to grind this every three days for gear, but it seem like that’s what Mythic intends.  Personally, I’d rather that they used a quest-driven or token-based (like heroic dungeons in WoW)  system for acquiring loot.  Grinding the same instance over and over again really spoils the game.

So, I guess it’s back to the trenches for three days.  Then, it’s back to the Crypts.
